Raid Report 2-22-15
What a fun day we had Sunday. The weather was mild and the stages were wild. Congratulations to Arcadia Outlaw who won Top Gun.
We shot 6 individual stages for the first time since the inaugural match last April. It was worth the extra work and didn’t seem to take too much longer to set up.
The most talked about stage was #5: “scare” the varmints 4 times then hit them. It was weird intentionally missing as fast as possible.
The stage themes were fun and Hollifer A Dollar never hesitated with his knowledge of the artists of each song:
Stg. 1: “Love Hurts” by Nazareth
Stg. 2: “Modern Love” by David Bowie
Stg. 3: “Love Stinks” by J. Geils Band
Stg. 4: “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin
Stg. 5: “Love Shack” by the B-52s
Stg. 6: “Love Is a Battlefield” by Pat Benatar
The Polish Plate Rack was back making some shooters look like heroes and some, uh, humble…
Tornado Timmy earned a new nickname, just call him CLICK! Then he went on to have a couple of the best stages he’s ever shot. Ah, the highs and lows of cowboy shooting.
OK, next month is really full: the Florida State Blackpowder Championship is at Ft. White on March 7th. The Ides of March in Eustis is March 20th, 21st, and 22nd. Valdosta will host its Annual Match on March 28th. The Raiders match will be held the 5th Sunday, March 29th. Better get some ammo loaded!
Then in April, there will be a chance to be an “Iron Cowboy”. Anyone who wants to shoot the Cowford Annual on Saturday April 24th (8 stages) AND shoot with the Raiders on Sunday April 25th (6 stages) will qualify for the Iron Cowboy. Total times of both matches will be combined for category awards. Should be fun.
That’s a whole lot of action for sure…but that is our middle name!
I hope to see you all on the trail,
